Eda Ertürk
Dietitian
Detailed CV
Eda Erturk is a Highly Specialist Dietitian dedicated to supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families to develop a positive, sustainable, and less stressful relationship with food. With extensive experience across NHS services and the private sector in the UK, Eda provides compassionate, evidence-based nutritional care for children, young people, and adults, with a particular focus on autism-related feeding difficulties, restrictive eating, and complex nutritional needs.
Eda is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Association for Nutrition (ANutr), and is an active member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA). She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Dietetics and is currently undertaking a second MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in Paediatric Dietetics at the University of Plymouth.
Within the NHS, Eda works in a senior clinical role and has contributed to the development of clinical guidance for dietitians supporting young people within the Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN) treatment model. She has specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), and family-based approaches, enabling her to support individuals experiencing complex eating, feeding, and nutritional challenges.
Autism and Neurodiversity-Informed Dietetic Care
Eda has a particular interest in supporting autistic and other neurodivergent individuals who experience difficulties with eating, food variety, and nutritional intake. She recognises that feeding challenges can be influenced by sensory sensitivities, food textures, smells, tastes, routines, predictability, anxiety, and individual differences in the experience of food.
Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming, recognising that each person has their own strengths, preferences, communication style, and support needs. Rather than focusing solely on expanding food choices or changing eating behaviours, Eda works collaboratively with individuals and families to understand the reasons behind feeding difficulties and identify realistic, meaningful ways to improve nutritional adequacy, comfort, and quality of life.
Her clinical interests include:
-
Autism-related feeding difficulties and sensory-based food aversions.
-
ARFID and restrictive eating patterns.
-
Limited food variety and selective eating.
-
Nutritional adequacy and the assessment of potential nutritional deficiencies.
-
Growth, development, and paediatric nutritional needs.
-
Mealtime anxiety, distress, and family feeding challenges.
-
Parental guidance and practical strategies to support nutrition at home.
-
Coexisting gastrointestinal symptoms, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
-
The relationship between nutrition, gut health, and mental well-being.
A Compassionate, Individualised Approach
Eda believes that effective dietetic care begins with understanding the individual, their experiences, and their relationship with food. She takes a non-judgemental, collaborative approach, working alongside clients, parents, and carers to develop personalised nutritional plans that respect sensory preferences, individual needs, and family circumstances.
Her work integrates evidence-based nutrition therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation. Where appropriate, she supports families in creating more positive mealtime experiences, reducing unnecessary pressure around eating, and working towards nutritional goals at a pace that feels manageable for the individual.
Eda also has experience in eating disorder care, refeeding risk assessment and management, nutrition education, and clinical guideline development. Her wider clinical interests include the gut–brain axis and the relationship between nutrition and mental health, allowing her to consider the broader factors that may influence eating and well-being.
Supporting Individuals and Families
Eda is passionate about helping neurodivergent individuals access respectful, personalised nutritional support that recognises their needs without judgement or unnecessary pressure to conform to conventional eating patterns. She works with families to build understanding, confidence, and practical skills while prioritising nutritional safety, emotional well-being, and sustainable progress.
Through collaborative and evidence-informed care, Eda aims to help individuals and families navigate feeding difficulties, improve nutritional health, and develop a more positive and manageable relationship with food.
